Many people ask me how they can best reduce phone bills without eliminating services. A lot of business owners worry that their businesses aren’t big enough to receive any of the benefits of a PBX system or VOIP, which inevitably require a not insignificant in new handsets and a time investment for employees to adjust to the new (and better) technology. This is a common concern, but it’s one that doesn’t have any weight. Phone systems, even small phone systems, are the smart way for any business to save money on their telecom expenses while getting better service than the phone company could ever dream of offering. In fact, it is our mission here at GetJive to show companies with as few as one to as many as 100,000 employees that, by harnessing the bandwidth of the internet and the most technologically advanced polycom handsets, saving money on telecom expenses with the highest technology is within the reach of even the most conservative overhead budgets.
This is not to say that installing is “cheap.” Phone systems for small businesses do require an initial investment in handsets, but not much more than conventional handsets. Making phone calls with these handsets, however, is nothing if not cheap. Flat-rate calling will keep expenses consistent (predictability is a huge bonus in these uncertain times) and unimaginably low versus traditional phone service.
Other business owners worry that voice quality is not as good with VOIP, but this is an obsolete concern. The newest generation of digital handsets enrich voices to make them clear and truer than previous generations of handsets. Thus, it makes sense for any business, small or large, to switch to a hosted PBX VOIP-based phone system; it will save them a bundle and allow them to focus most on what they do best: running their businesses for growth, without having to worry about higher-than-expected bills.
